What is Pedal Kayaking?
(Hint: It's a lot easier than traditional kayaking)
Pedal kayaks are a modern advancement in kayaking technology. That being said, they're not complicated at all! Our Old Town PDL Kayaks use rotary pedals similar to what you would find on a bicycle. By using the larger muscle groups in our bodies (our legs), we are able to travel further and faster than we would on our traditional kayak counterparts. Due to the positioning of the seat in our kayaks, they mimic the feeling of using a recumbent bicycle. Hover over the blue circles below for details.

The pedals operate a propeller below the kayak in the water. The user can pedal forward to move the kayak forward, or backwards to move the kayak in reverse.
A turning knob on the left side of the seat steers the pedal kayak left and right. You can think of this as the "steering wheel"
The rudder at the back end of the kayak is what will turn the kayak. The user steers using their left hand.
The pedal kayak can also be used as a traditional kayak. When the water is too shallow, we use a standard kayak paddle to maneuver.

Liquid Blue Outfitters is a family owned and operated business. Cruise Heyden and myself (Skye Heyden), are brothers that were born and raised right here in Florida. As Florida natives, we spent most of our youth in and around salt water. We have always had a passion for watersports and a deep connection with the sea. Liquid Blue Outfitters is simply an extension of our love for all things outdoors. We hope that by sharing our love and passion for the ocean with others we can bring them to fall in love with what makes this state so amazing as well.
